Clasico III: David Villa Must Rise To The Challenge Of Facing Real Madrid
David Villa returned to his scoring form after netting in the winner against Osasuna in the weekend. However, Live Soccer TV believe that it's almost time for Villa to make a difference against Real Madrid Today.
Villa was one of the most sought after player in World Football for the past few years with clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United being linked with him. He was probably one of the best strikers in the world and playing with Valencia never looked like a grandiose prospect for a man of his caliber.

As things few by, financial constraints at Valencia prompted a departure for the Spanish talisman and Catalonia was his next destination. Guardiola caught the eye of many by paying such a hefty price in the acquisition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic but never did the latter establish himself into the hearts of the Blaugrana faithful. And the arrival of Villa was more like an obvious clue for the en to Ibrahimovic's short time at Spain- which eventually became a fact as the Swedish striker left for AC Milan.

Villa had always seemed like the 'perfect' striker for Barca considering how well he connected with the likes of Xavi and Iniesta while playing for the Spanish National Team. It was always looking to be destined for a success story when it came to Villa and he did no harm to his reputation by planting himself into the Barca roots pretty quickly. 18 goals in seven months or so at the club never once looked like a bad record for a new striker.

However as the tale goes, Villa has struggled to find the back of the net ever since he scored against Mallorca in February. Despite scoring in his country's EURO 2012 Qualifiers against the Czech Republic in March, the flamboyant striker admitted to being worried of his recent goal drought that could have partially contributed to his team's difficulties in unlocking the defence of Los Blancos in the past two Clasicos.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona Match Preview
Real Madrid and Barcelona will clash at the Bernabeu on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League Semi-Final first leg.
This will be the third ‘El Clasico’ matchup inside of two weeks after a 1-1 La Liga draw in Madrid, and the Copa Del Rey Final that Madrid won 1-0 in extra time courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo goal.

The mind games between opposing managers with Barca manager Josep Guardiola telling the official UEFA website that Madrid will take “the tag of favorites” into the game.

Madrid boss Jose Mourinho responded in typically cool fashion when he told BBC Sport that “there exists no favorite.”

The excitement ahead of this game was summarized by Portugal legend Luis Figo. The winger has previously played for both clubs and told the official UEFA website he expects this tie to “go down in the history books.”

“These are matches that will always be remembered. They take place every year but they’re remembered due to the history behind the fixture. There’s a great rivalry between these clubs for football and also social reasons. That’s why they’re so big,” Figo told UEFA.com.
